About

School Overview
Valley Academy of Learning is a public school program within the Wenatchee School District — tuition-free, flexible, and built around you.
Open to K–10 students in the WSD attendance area or choiced in from nearby communities, Valley Academy pairs every student with a certificated teacher and invites families into the learning process at every step. Part-time or full-time — you choose what works for your family.
A two-time Washington School of Distinction, Valley Academy is growing because families are seeing what's possible when school and home work as one.
Location
Valley is located in the former Columbia Elementary building, 600 Alaska Street — a space with deep roots in this community. When Columbia closed due to enrollment changes, the district committed to keeping it a place of learning. As Valley has grown and expanded its offerings, this building has become the perfect home to meet that demand while honoring what came before.

Every month, Valley Academy families meet with their certificated teacher — on Zoom or in person — to review their student's progress. These Friday meetings bring together updates from both on-site classes and off-site learning, giving families and teachers a complete picture of how each student is growing and where to focus next.

Valley Academy parents are co-educators — and that's what makes the model work. Here's what that looks like in practice:
Be actively involved in your child's learning at home. Communicate regularly with your child's teacher to track progress, address challenges, and adjust learning plans. Ensure your child attends all scheduled classes, meetings, and required activities. Create a structured home environment that supports and extends school instruction. Assist in monitoring progress through assignments, assessments, and curriculum reviews.
Future Ready
The Valley Academy model works. Students have made consistent gains in reading, writing, and science — and when they move on to high schools, Running Start, or WVTech, they arrive ready.
It's also a place where people feel safe. School climate surveys show that students, staff, and families consistently feel secure and supported on campus — because that's what a true community looks like.
