First Week of School & Beyond
To help keep arrival and dismissal safe, smooth, and efficient, please follow the procedures below.
Please enter the parking lot on the Valley Academy reader board side.
Please exit on the side closest to CVCH.
🚗 Morning Drop-Off
Mrs. Jelsing will almost always be outside welcoming students as they arrive and helping them enter the building.
K–2 Families: During the first few days of school, we recommend walking your student into the building until they feel comfortable and confident with the morning routine.
🚙 Afternoon Pick-Up
Grades 6–10:
Please plan to meet your student near the small playground in the bus ramp area. We will walk students through this procedure during Orientation so they know exactly where to meet you. Using this area makes a big difference in keeping our main pick-up area moving smoothly.
Grades K–5:
The area directly in front of the building will be coned off during dismissal. Please do not attempt to pick up your student directly in front of the main entrance.
Mrs. Jelsing and Mrs. Bailey, our new counselor, will be outside helping students get to their vehicles quickly and safely.
Students will be directed down the sidewalk to the concrete median. They will wait there until a staff member walks them to their vehicle or lets them know it is safe to go to their designated pick-up area. We will be sending a video of what this looks like before next week.
⚠️ Important Safety Reminder
Please do not call for your students to walk or run across the parking lot or street. Students should never cross through the parking lot or street on their own during dismissal. Parents should walk over to them in order to ensure a safe route.
***If you are not in the main pick-up line, please park, get out of your vehicle, and walk over to meet your student.***
The pick up line is the safest way for your student to be picked up. In a few weeks Mrs. Jelsing will even know your exact car at pick up.
Student safety is our highest priority. Thank you for your patience and partnership as everyone learns our arrival and dismissal routines during the first few days of school (and continued work as we go through the school year.)
